Hike #31: Les Basses Gorges du Verdon

Venez découvrir les Basses Gorges du Verdon au fil de l’eau.

Au départ de Montpezat nous descendrons les spectaculaires gorges de Baudinard de Montpezat jusqu’au barrage de Sainte Croix.  Sur le chemin du retour nous pique-niquerons sur la plage et les plus courageux pourront se baigner !

NB. Accessibles à tous à condition de savoir nager, les enfants doivent avoir au moins 6 ans.

 

Come and discover the Basses Gorges du Verdon from the water.

Starting from Montpezat, we will paddle our way down the spectacular gorges de Baudinard de Montpezat up to the Sainte Croix dam.

On our return we will picnic on the beach, possibility to swim for the brave!

NB. Children must be 6 years or older and know how to swim.

 

 

Price per person: 10 euros (all ages). We will need the money ahead, so please make sure that before the activity you pay me or Sharon or Chris or Florence.

Length of trip: 3 ½ to 4 hours

Dogs:        NO

Start time: 10:30 am (allow at least 1 hour 30 minutes driving time from Aix)

Bring lunch, change of clothes (just in case!), old training shoes, hat and sun screen.

Directions from Aix to Montpezat (04500, commune de Montpezat Montagnac)

A51 towards Gap.  Exit at junction 17 Greoux/Vinon.

Keep left towards Vinon, go through Vinon and keep left towards Greoux (D952).  At roundabout keep on D952 to go around Greoux. Leave Greoux still on the D952. At Allemagne en Provence turn right onto D111 (route de Montagnac).  Keep going until you arrive near Montagnac and follow then the D211 towards Montpezat.  You will arrive at a crossroad with D11. Cross over to follow the D461 to Montpezat.

When you arrive in Montpezat, take the right fork towards Saint Laurent du Verdon, and « Base Yannick ».  Follow the rustic yellow signs for Base Yannick down towards the water front.  Turn left, still following these signs, on a very rough dirt track.  Park at the base where sign posted.
