Hike #30: Château St Estève de Néri Leaders: Alex and leaders Date: June 10, 2017 |
This years' end of year party will held at Château St Estève de Néri, kindly hosted by Alex Wilson on Saturday 10th June from 8pm onwards. It is open to all members (whether you are a regular hiker, not so regular or just a 'pot luck/restaurant' hiker) and their partners.
Directions can be found at the bottom of this message. The format will be similar to few years ago with a meshui/BBQ (with roast potatoes) and each person/couple providing either an entree/appetiser or salad/vegetable dish to accompany the meat or a dessert (for 6 to 8 people). The wine will be provided by Chateau Esteve de Neri. There will be music and a dance floor so don’t forget your dancing shoes!
This option will involve a lot more work compared to just going to a restaurant. So before we take it forward, we’d like to ask for volunteers to sign up for the various tasks. There is no need for everyone to volunteer, only if you are happy to do so. We will hire serving staff on the evening so that we can all relax and enjoy the event.
We would charge 25€ a head inclusive of staff, meat, potatoes, wine, coffee, etc with all surplus made on the day after charging for the cost of ingredients and the payment of staff being given to a charity voted on by members. Payment is required by Tuesday 6th June LATEST!!! 25€ per person CASH ONLY. To be given to one of the leaders (Isabelle/Chris/Sharon/Florence or Gerda).
_Directions_: From Aix-en-Provence It is about a 40 min drive from CIPEC: A51/N296 Route de Sisteron. Exit 14 direction Pertuis/D556. After entering Pertuis, go left at the sign panels, heading west. The panels should say Cadenet/Tour d'Aigues. Follow Tour d'Aigues-Villelaure, at the rond point leaving Pertuis, follow direction Villelaure. At the exit of Villelaure, follows signs D37-Ansouis. In Ansouis, you will look for a square with "un monument aux morts" and "un lavoir" near a chapel. At this point you will see a sign directing you toward Chateau St Esteve de Neri. Follow the road for about 2km until you see an entry marked by a large hedge and a lone cypress tree on your right. This is the entrance to the Chateau.** **
Here's to another great year of hikes, of meeting and making new friends and enjoying the company of old friends while exploring this wonderful region of France.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
